EVS HOSTING PROJECT N° 1-IT-7672

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE ORGANISATION
UILDM Sezione Laziale is a non-profit organisation with following aims: promote clinical research, prevention, care of neuromuscular and neurological diseases and favour social integration of disabled people. The history of our organisation has always been marked by: rehabilitation assistance (funding of this activity is beard by Regione Lazio); development of specific services offered free of charge to people affected by neuromuscular and neurological diseases; association's participation and active actions aimed to a different cultural approach to diversity by drawing attention to disabled people's needs and claiming the right to enjoy equal chances.
UILDM Sezione Laziale takes care of about a thousand users affected by the mentioned diseases within Lazio region, not only under clinical point of view but also with a Social Work staff.
As part of its purposes, UILDM Sezione Laziale has a branch engaged in promotion and organisation of social cultural activities: advise in various fields, such as, legal, mobility, vocational guidance.
Other peculiar spaces are offered for cultural meetings, artistic training, debates, etc.
Last but not least Finestra Aperta, association's official monthly magazine with about ten-years activity.
Members and disabled users are protagonists and beneficiaries of every service and activity.
UILDM is engaged in awakening public opinion by promoting integration and disabled people's rights issues through participation of conscious objectors in civilian service and volunteers.

AIMS AND ACTIVITIES
The aim of our project is to favour integration and autonomy of people affected by neuromuscular and neurological diseases.
Activities shall be carried out in following fields:
1. Associative area
Facilitate and support disabled members in taking part in UILDM indoor socialising activities such as: integrated theatre workshops (involves disabled and not); editing of monthly magazine "Finestra Aperta". A "danceability" workshop is being organised, volunteers could be actively involved.
2. Territorial resources
Facilitate disabled people's knowledge and use of territorial resources such as public services, cultural centres, etc.
3. Map of architectural features that deny access to the handicapped
Survey of a specific area (particularly public buildings) shall be done in order to claim their demolition.

VOLUNTEER' S TASKS
The volunteers will carry on the activities in five or six days in a week, with a free week-end each fortnight.
Flextime will be programmed each week and the working hours will never be more than 36.

Associative area
Two afternoons and one morning each week will be applied by the volunteers to these activities with the following tasks:
Theatre laboratory
· Servicing disable beginner actors to arrive and going away from laboratory;
· Preparing laboratory and disable beginner actors welcome;
· Servicing laboratory teacher
· participating to the show.
"Finestra Aperta" editing
· Participating editing meetings;
· Volunteers will have the possibility of proposing and writing articles and sections which will be published on the UILDM monthly magazine.

Territorial resource
Volunteers role will be important to help the disables, which attend UILDM social service, to stimulate and support theirs interests.
Volunteers will be engaged in the research of the territorial entertaining opportunities, in the disables accompanying to the located places and in the facilities to participate to the chosen activities.
Volunteers will be supported, in this work of direct relationship with the disables, by a social assistant with whom will define the action modalities.

Architectonical barriers map
Volunteers, together with a disabled member and with expert personnel, will locate the eventual architectonical barriers which hinder the access and the use of services in a specific area (that will be later individuated) in the city of Rome.

ACCOMODATION:
Apartment placed in Via Circ.ne Gianicolense, 96 in Rome. It is about 4 Km far from Uildm and it is connected with trams and buses. The apartment has 4 rooms and 6 dorms, two bathrooms and a big kitchen. One of the rooms will be available for the two volunteers. The cleaning of the common spaces will be ensured by service staff. Alternatively, volunteers will be hosted by some of our members in their families.

LODGING:
The volunteers will be given food coupons with a value of 8 Euro per day . The coupons may be used in different restaurants and supermarkets . There are about 150 places in roman area where to use these coupons.

LINGUISTIC SUPPORT
An Italian Language Course of 30 hours will be available for the volunteers and it will be held by a professional teacher. It will be structured as the following:· 18 h for the first month;· 12 h for the second month.· Italian language city tours will also be arranged. The project's staff will be responsible for further language support.

RECRUITMENT
Youngsters sharing diversity integration values, willing to get in touch with others and motivated in knowing handicapped reality.
Interest in theatre activities, social communication, basic Italian are appreciated.

TRAINING AND SUPPORT:
· The mentor will meet regularly with the volunteer to check on his/her progress and help solve any problems. They will also ensure ongoing support for the volunteer.
· Volunteers will be given any training necessary for them to carry out their tasks.
· Efforts will be made to help the volunteer integrate into the local community.
· Volunteers will attend the on-arrival training organised by the National Agency or host organisation as well as nationally organised mid-term meetings.
Support
The mentor will guarantee the volunteer's support and their guideline about relationships with our association and their integration into the city, through income talks, trainings and periodical meetings .
The volunteers will received season tickets for the public transports.

Training
The training has been thought so that aids to evidence the context of the voluntary service job in the optical of the complexity. From a part it will come supplied a specific formation, that it can give to the volunteer instruments operated to aid disable people, and from the other it will come offered a formation in which they will come proposed methodologies that aim to increase the observation threshold ( context, self, operativity), for to stimulate a cooperative and collaborative attitude.
It will aim to value diversity elements, to try out the point of view's technique, to exceed the commonplaces and to develop analysis ability to the ends of one deeper understanding of the events.
The acquired competences in the specific part will go to rejoin themselves with those obtained on a relational area and vice versa : actions that beginning from a progressive increase of competences, can place to the center the persons.
The methodology used for the encounter formed will privilege the experiencial and relational aspect.
it will try to exceed one logical linear, whose mechanicalness does not concur to see the complexity of the relations, for giving space to one logic circular in which they come held entirety contrasting aspects.
The proposed distance comprises processed moments realize through the use of instruments like, novelistic, dramatization, audiovisional, simulation, and games of cooperation techniques.
The volunteer will be supported by professional staff for every workspace ( Associative area, Territorial resource, Architectonical barriers map).
